There are Governing Body teachers leaving, Mrs van der Riet, Mrs Michau, Miss Badenhorst, Miss Duke, Mrs Blomeyer as well as our swimming coach Mrs Wheeler and our speech and language therapist, Miss Eybers. We also have departmental teachers leaving , Mrs Backhouse retiring after 35 years at LGS . We thank them all for their dedication, hard work and the valuable contribution that they have made to our school and the education of our girls.

Tuesday – 20 January 2015 Offices open from 8:00 am – 15:30 pm

The education Department is very concerned with the safety of all school trips. For each trip they require certain Excursion forms to be completed by the transport company as well as the parents. For the school to take any girls anywhere, be it for a walk, to play sport matches or go on a class outing, written permission is also required from their parents. All girls going on an outing needs to have school insurance or a good medical aid cover. School Insurance is R154 for the year.

Parents , thank you very much for all your interest, concern and support this year. May you all, together with your families, have a well deserved, happy, relaxing holiday and a peaceful, joyous Festive Season. To those families leaving our school, go well and take care! A special thank you to our Governing Body members for their time and effort this year, to Mrs Essack for running our school cake sales and the Muslim Club, and Joel for running the Christian Club. Thank you to the Management Team, all Teachers, Teacher Aides, Secretaries, Aftercare Supervisors and General Assistants for their dedication and hard work this year. To our Security, Maintenance Supervisor, Mr Rawlins, our Access Control gentlemen, Mr Job Nsibanyone and Mr S Ngcobo, Mr Kevin van den Berg, our IT Specialist, our Scholar Patrol gentleman, Mr Zuma and the Tutor Ladies and Mrs Gilham, Audiblox, Mandy Wheeler and Nina Toohey, our Psychology Interns and our Speech Language Therapist, Miss Eybers thank you for your service to our school.

Please remember to use your Makro and My School cards over the festive season. Remember to swipe your card whenever you can as every swipe counts! You can even use your my School card when you shop at : Kalhari.com (SA’s largest online retailer), myschooltravel.co.za (flights, car rental, accommodation) and power24.co.za (prepaid electricity online or via mobile banking.) Remember to continue helping to save our world by recycling and don’t throw away your plastic bread tags. An organization is collecting the plastic tags to raise money to purchase wheelchairs. Please collect all postage stamps, (cut the border around the stamps so as not to damage the edges of the stamps). The stamps are sold to big stamp wholesalers in the U.K who then sell to stamp dealers all over the world. The money is then given to Zumat. Zumat (Zululand Mission Air Transport) provides emergency medical air services as well as flying doctors to clinics in the remote part of North-Eastern Kwa-Zulu Natal. Please also collect scrap paper for our Junior classes to use.

May everyone have a relaxing, wonderful and special Christmas time with their family and friends. I wish you all the best for 2015.
