2012 GOVERNING BODY ELECTIONS
Notice is hereby given that a meeting for the nomination and election of candidates for the election of five (5) parent members of Longmarket Girls' Primary School, will be held on Wednesday 14th March 2012 at 5:30pm at the Longmarket School Hall. Candidates (who must be parents/guardians of learners at the school and who are not employed at the school) may be nominated by submitting to the Electoral Officer a nomination form, duly completed by the candidate and his/her proposer and seconder. Both the proposer and seconder must be parents/guardians of learners at the school. The nominations form can be obtained from the school office and must be returned to the office at least one day before the elections are conducted. Parents, we need your support at our G.B. elections. On Wednesday 14th March our Longmarket School Choir will entertain the parents in the hall. The Junior Primary girls will have “Story Time” in Libraryland while the elections are taking place .

ADMISSIONS 2013
We would like to bring to your attention, the fact that nowadays there are far more people applying for placement at City Centre Schools than there are vacancies. We therefore urge you to apply timeously for any younger daughters whom you are intending to send to Longmarket Girls’ School in 2013. An “OPEN DAY” will be held on Saturday 3 March 2012 from 9:00am to 10:00am. We would like to invite you to come and join us on this day. PLEASE NOTE: Our present Grade RR and R parents, you don’t need to make a formal application. Your child will automatically be accepted IF SHE IS READY for Grade R and/or Grade 1, AND FEES ARE UP-TO-DATE. Equally important is that our present Grade 7 parents apply for high schools. This needs to be done right away to ensure a placement for your daughter. Remember to apply to more than one school.

ALBANY BREAD BAGS
Thank you to everyone who collected the barcodes from Albany bread packets. Albany has changed the format of the competition this year and we have decided it is no longer worthwhile participating. We therefore will only continue collecting the plastic tags from any bread packet to go towards the purchasing of wheelchairs.

IMPORTANT DEADLINE – 29 February 2012
A school fees agreement must be completed by ALL parents and returned by 3:00pm on Wednesday 29th February 2012. The cut off for receiving discount for paying fees in full is Wednesday 29th February 2012. The cut off for submitting subsidy forms is by 3:00pm on Wednesday 29th February 2012.
NO LATE FORMS WILL BE CONSIDERED.

JUNIOR PRIMARY REPORTS AND BOOK VIEWING
Grade RR to 3 girls will receive their first term report after the holidays at book viewing on Tuesday 17h April 2012.

TOILETRIES
Please can the Grade 2 girls bring a 9 or 10 pack of toilet rolls (Twin saver or similar) to school.

SENIOR PRIMARY INTERHOUSE SWIMMING GALA
On Friday, 2nd March at 10:00am, we will be having our Senior Primary Inter-house Gala to which all parents are invited. All Grade 4-7 girls, please come to school on Friday in your swimming costumes, P.E clothes and white takkies. If you are unable to participate in the Gala please send a doctor's certificate.

SWIM-A-THON
A reminder to all Grade 1 to 7 girls to ask their family and friends to sponsor them or give them a donation for their Swim-a-thon. The Swim-a-thon will take place from Monday 19 March 2012 to Friday 23 March 2012.

LIBRARYLAND
We are requiring more cushions for our Junior Primary Library. If anyone has a spare cushion at home that they no longer use please consider donating it to "Libraryland".

DENTENTION
The staff are concerned that most of the girls who receive black marks for failing to do what is required of them and/or for breaking school rules and doing wrong things, don't seem to care as there is often no improvement in their behavior. So in future when they receive detention for 5 black marks they will attend a meeting with their parents, class teacher and or specialist teacher and with the principal. At the meeting they will explain why they are getting black marks. Discussion will then take place about the way forward.
