01 Mar 2011
We would like to bring to your attention, the fact that nowadays there are far more people applying for placement at City Centre Schools than there are vacancies. We therefore urge you to apply timeously for any younger daughters whom you are intending to send to Longmarket Girls’ School in 2012.
As we have placed advertisements in the local newspapers, we wish to stress to our current parents that the closing date for the return application forms for Grade RR, Grade R, and Grade 1 is THURSDAY, 17 MARCH AT 12 NOON!
An "OPEN DAY" will be held on Saturday, 5 March 2011 from 9 to 10 a.m. We would like to invite you to come and join us on this day.
Our present Grade RR and R parents, you don’t need to make a formal application. Your child will automatically be accepted IF SHE IS READY for Grade R and/or Grade 1, AND FEES ARE UP-TO-DATE!
Equally important is that our present Grade 7 parents apply for high schools. This needs to be done right away to ensure a placement for your daughter. Remember to apply to more than one school.

ANNUAL NATIONAL ASSESSMENTS (ANA)
Parents, last week our Grade 2 to 7 girls wrote the annual national assessments tests for Numeracy/Mathematics and Literacy/English. Our teachers found that some of the tests had questions that were not grade appropriate, as well as there being mistakes in the papers and the marking memorandums. You will be receiving a report indicating your daughter’s results.
Parents, there are still children who are not doing sport, waiting in the car park and not being collected when school finishes. These children are extremely disruptive and noisy. This is unacceptable as teachers and office staff are trying to work. Our school does have Aftercare facilities so no child needs to be waiting unattended in the car park. Parents, we are very serious about this matter. Please enrol your daughter in aftercare or make a plan to collect her promptly after school and don’t make your problem our problem.
